a visit to the hospital..

today has been one of those days that makes me thankful for what i have and what i have been given in this life. we had katelyn's check-up today at primary's and i couldn't help but reminisce about 5 years ago.. the reason we were in the hospital today. its amazing how far our little family has come since that horrible day we learned that our baby had cancer. she went in and had her blood tests and was admitted right away before even doing a bone marrow biopsy. they pretty much knew (i pretty much knew long before they did but everyone told me no way!) she had swollen lymph nodes and swollen organs all over her body. thats how far the leukemia cells had gotten.. everywhere in her tiny body was filled with them. i still remember those first blood counts.. she had none! we survived numerous hospital stays, countless rounds of chemotherapy and steroids that made her miserable! and today she is 3 years off treatment and still going strong with no problems. its funny because over the years we have become so close to the doctors and nurses and her doctor just calls our visits a social visit since she is doing awesome! i'm sure most of you don't even remember what these numbers mean but i'm going to post her counts from today:
wbc=4.1
hematocrit=37%
platelets=259
ANC=1.8
they are all in normal range (a couple are low normal but it's okay :)

these are my most favorite pictures of katelyn during her treatments
